When Jesus moves in …

December 20, 2013

“The Word became flesh and blood, and moved into the neighborhood. We saw the glory with our own eyes, the one-of-a-kind glory, like Father, like Son, Generous inside and out, true from start to finish.” John 1:14 The Message

If you ever wondered what life is like with Jesus … you only need to read this: “generous inside out .. true from start to finish.” His whole nature is generous when it comes to your life in particular. When Christ moves in (by faith), he begins to complete everything in you that was crucified for you. He begins the work of renovating your life from the inside out. There are parts of you .. years included .. that require God’s gentle patience of restoring, healing, working forgiveness, and infecting you with his joy. Jesus doesn’t take shortcuts with your life. He’s not in the partial completion business. Everything He does is “true from start to finish.” And whatever he is doing in your life, he is growing His Word in you. He’s not completing you with your thoughts or simply perfecting your ideas of faith. He is completing you with truth, and that is an all-the-time-it-takes relationship. That’s why Jesus has promised that he will never give up or abandon you. The world you live in makes up its own rules. If you don’t perform, it won’t reward. If you won’t conform, it won’t confirm. You are left on your own. The world that Jesus became flesh and blood in is the same world you live in everyday. There is nothing in your life or confronting you that Jesus will not be sufficient in you. Your feelings may betray you .. or panic may set in .. but Jesus has moved in permanently .. forever. Our tendency is to run ahead and hope that Jesus will catch up. Sometimes it is his tender slowness that causes us to stop and turn our whole being back to Him. He is growing us and treating us “like Father, like Son.” This is the only true relationship that God wants to have with us. His Word has never failed. It only takes a moment …

“So the word of The Lord was growing mightily and prevailing.” Acts 19:20 New American Standard

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
