The ends of your possessions …

January 6, 2014

“I will surely tell of the decree of the Lord; He said to me, “You are My Son, Today I have begotten You. Ask of Me, and I will surely give the nations as Your inheritance, And the very ends of the earth as Your possession.” Psalm 2:7-8 New American Standard

There are ancient words spoken into the darkest places on earth … into the hearts of every man and woman born and to be born. These words are a promise of Who was to come .. Who has come .. and Who will come again. These words of promise find their shape in the Son. We don’t like to think or imagine this world as being continually set upon evil. It seems to harsh .. to judgmental .. and to uncaring. We try to “see” the good in others .. to act with goodness .. and work with good intentions. But God sees another world. He sees a world torn apart by sin .. families divided .. nations conspiring against nations. He chose His Son as the answer to all wickedness .. all evil .. and all sin’s darkness. How is a nation won? It starts with one heart changing .. and another .. and another. It starts against seemingly unbeatable odds. Evil seems too strong .. sophisticated .. and seductively acceptable. But The Lord has decreed .. announced .. and settled all questions with this Son. Jesus still conquers a nation one heart at a time. His Spirit has no equal against any form of evil. The Cross has settled the ownership of nations. The battles still rage against truth and grace.
The only hope of your world is in this Son. The Cross isn’t a simple answer against sin’s complexities. But God has declared Christ’s finished work on the cross as final. That means hope for your life .. real hope. Without Jesus .. you’re left trying to hold everything together on your own. It’s not the way God intends for your life. His intentions are decreed in this Son. Jesus isn’t a suggestion or alternative. The nations belong to him. How much more does He want your heart today…? It only takes a moment …

“Then the Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great on the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.” Genesis 3:5 New American Standard

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
