The power of able …

January 7, 2014

“What you’ll get is the Holy Spirit. And when the Holy Spirit comes on you, you will be able to be my witnesses in Jerusalem, all over Judea and Samaria, even to the ends of the world.” Acts 1:8 The Message

Jesus promised you the gift of the Holy Spirit. Your old way of life will no longer work. Everything changes because you can’t salvage that old life. It becomes a lie when the Holy Spirit moves in. God is throwing out all the ways you tried to fit “this world” into His world. He will even let you wear yourself out trying to reform a lie. Jesus has sent His Spirit to literally “clothe” you with his enabling power. The same power that raised Christ from the dead now resides in you. You are his witness. Your old way of life won’t like that “custom-made label”. It will make you stand out .. not self-consciously but Christ-conscious. You can’t point to yourself as self-improving. You can only speak of Christ’s life-death-resurrection as the very source that “turned” your life around and gave you a true foundation worth living for. The Holy Spirit transforms your life into a witness. You’re responsible for living this new way of life. But Christ empowers you with his grace to live out of the very life He is living in you. You’re living a new life. And the only way you can live this new life in Christ is through the Holy Spirit working through every corner .. every habit .. and every detail of your life with His freeing power. And just as Jesus always keeps His word .. so the Holy Spirit will shapes His words onto faith and freedom in your life. You’ll not only be amazed .. you’ll be a witness. It only takes a moment …

“Don’t lie to one another. You’re done with that old way of life. … Every item of your new way of life is custom-made by the Creator, with his label on it.” Colossians 3:9-10 The Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
