Absolute delight …

January 20, 2014

“We throw open our doors to God and discover at the same moment that he has already thrown open his door to us. We find ourselves standing where we always hoped we might stand — out in the open spaces of God’s grace and glory, standing tall and shouting our praise.” Romans 5:2 The Message

It was a decisive moment when those nails ended sin’s life choking grip upon your life. When you were at that moment in your life when you knew that there was nothing in your power to save you .. redeem you .. and restore you … Jesus threw open the doors of grace and welcomed you in. It wasn’t a one time invitation. You knew at that moment that there was nothing you could offer for such a gift. And even more overwhelming was the look on Jesus’s face: Complete absolute delight in seeing you free and alive in his grace! With Jesus .. your past doesn’t define you. Your once-decisive-end has now been transformed into a “wide open space” of grace. You met Jesus right in the middle of the “mess” of your life. A “messy pastor” once wrote that it is Jesus that brings us face to face with ourselves. He is the only One who can stand with you in that moment and offer you an end to sin’s unrelenting misery. He doesn’t condemn because he became your condemnation. Sin is still real .. but it cannot own you or claim you. Jesus has claimed you. He has the scars to prove it. And you …? You have the grace to walk into this day with praise … no matter what… . It only takes a moment …

“Could it be any clearer? Our old way of life was nailed to the cross with Christ, a decisive end to that sin-miserable life – no longer at sin’s every beck and call!” Romans 6:6 The Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
