Completing unfinished business …

February 6, 2014

“For in Him all the fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form, and in Him you have been made complete, and He is the head over all rule and authority.” Colossians 2:9-10 New American Standard

Complete? Think of all the offers you face everyday that offer to complete what is missing in your life. Some even promise to complete the hole in your life. Against that backdrop is Jesus .. crucified and risen .. with His arms wide open for your life. His offer isn’t based on the work you do, but on the work He has already done on your behalf. He promises to be sufficient for every situation and circumstance in your life. And that means right up to and in the middle of any and every mess in your life. Your prayer is the same as a shepherd-giantkiller-king who faces the mess in his life and asks God to make a “fresh start” out his life. He has nothing to promise in return for the pain he has caused and the chaos he is facing. But he knows that without God’s help and saving grace … he is lost. Jesus is the fresh start and Genesis week of your life. It’s his life that breathes holy air into the stale and suffocating spaces of your heart. He doesn’t promise to complete you when you are good enough. He promises to complete you because He is good. He forgives .. restores .. and never brings it up again. Because in Christ .. it’s already forgotten .. completely. It only takes a moment …

“God make a fresh start in me, shape a Genesis week for the chaos of my life. Don’t throw me out with the trash, or fail to breathe holiness into me. Bring me back from gray exile, put a fresh wind in my sails.” Psalms 51:10-12 The Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
