Everything .. and whatever else shows up

“Everything that we have — right thinking and right living, a clean slate and a fresh start — comes from God by way of Jesus Christ.” 1 Corinthians 1:30 The Message

Everything means everything in your life. That is usually what bothers us at some end. You surrender to God everything connected to your life. But then the real work of Christ begins when He moves into everything connected to being you. He works in your thinking so that you wrestle with lid habits of how you used to think and how He thinks. You begin to notice the world you live in is “continually dragging you down to its level” of living and Christ is gently but lovingly firm in shaping you in grace. Jesus never asks you to compromise with the world. Instead, He sends you into the world for men and women to see a difference of what life in Christ looks like on God’s terms: “a clean slate and a fresh start”. The world you live in always tries to sell you the idea that “you” can make your own clean slate and fresh start. But God offers you something more: the gift of His Son today .. who works in you to make real “everything” that He did for you. Right thinking and right living is a life long course. That’s why Christ’s indwelling life is everything. Left to yourself, compromise is the only path for making it through this life. But in Christ .. you have the promise of God’s never-ending help and everything-in-you Life. And with God .. “Everything” is the only thing worth saving in you. It only takes a moment …

“God can do anything, you know — far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams! He does it not by pushing us around but by working within us, his Spirit deeply and gently within us.” Ephesians 3:20 The Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
