Becoming the real you …

March 5, 2014

“You can’t keep your true self hidden forever; before long you’ll be exposed. You can’t hide behind a religious mask forever; sooner or later the mask will slip and your true face will be known. You can’t whisper one thing in private and preach the opposite in public; the day’s coming when those whispers will be repeated all over town.” Luke 12:2-3 The Message

The real you is going to show up .. today? .. tomorrow? .. at some moment or circumstance? Being in Jesus’s presence means everything about you comes into the light. When it comes to your life .. the life no one sees .. Jesus gets it. He knows about every secret .. every regret .. every missed opportunity .. and every misused opportunity. He knows about the dark things and the light things connected to your life .. your past and your present. Jesus warned the Really-Religious that they couldn’t hide behind all their religious facades. Their true selves would become known and even their words would be broadcast. Just think about your life exposed by your whispers and unchecked words? Who could ever recover? Instead of walking away from your life, Jesus invites you into His life. He invites you into the Light .. where grace .. love .. and promise are unending supply. He is the light. There isn’t another light that promises Life. Not everyone carries regrets. And not many choose to walk in the light. There are substitutes but they trail towards darkness .. deceit .. and despair. With Jesus, you can bring even those things into His presence and He will lead you through and out of the very things that seek to rob you of the “true self” that is you through Christ? It only takes a moment …

“Then Jesus again spoke to them, saying, “I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life.” John 8:12 New American Standard

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
