Others .. then you

March 21, 2014

“So let’s do it — full of belief, confident that we’re presentable inside and out. Let’s keep a form grip on the promises that keep us going. He always keeps his word. Let’s ‘s see how inventive we can be in encouraging love and helping out, not avoiding worshipping together as some do but spurring each other on, especially as we see the big Day approaching. Hebrews 10:22-25 The Message

You can’t live the Christian life alone. You weren’t made that way .. died for that way .. or filled with His Spirit that way. You’re presentable inside and out because of Christ .. because of the cross .. and because God keeps his word. Being inventive in love means you’ve made Christ the foundation of all of your priorities. That means someone could follow your life and Christ would be the reason behind how you live and love others. They would see your mistakes .. your confession .. and your confidence of being forgiven. They would see you encouraging others .. coming alongside others .. and lifting up others in just the same way that Christ is lifting you up. This transforms life from being a grind into a spirit-filled gift. It doesn’t mean huh like everything about every moment. It just means you’ve let Jesus be everything in all of your moments. You aren’t trying to be perfect or religious. You laugh .. get angry .. cry .. get excited .. find joy .. feel deep sadness and loss .. and look for ways to quietly lift others toward Christ. You know from where Christ rescued your life and where you would be without Him. And armed with that grace … you’re about His business today. You don’t have to pay Him back. You just find yourself wanting to be his hands and feet. It only takes a moment …

“God rescued us from dead-end alleys and dark dungeons. He’s set us up in the kingdom of the Son he loves so much, the Son who got us out of the pit we were in, got rid of the sins we were doomed to keep repeating.” Colossians 1:13-14 The Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
