Germs .. grimes .. and grace

“He heals the brokenhearted and bandages their wounds.” Psalm 147:3 The Message

No one escapes God’s notice. The things that break your heart .. are the very things that make Jesus stop and give you first aid. That would be enough because, of course, Jesus has so many more important people and conditions to deal with. What is your broken heart really worth? What about those wounds covered over? Dare you trust someone else .. even Jesus? Does The Lord really see? Jesus makes it really clear how far God will go. He’ll climb into the ditch where you’ve been discarded. He’ll clean your wounds .. carefully and thoroughly. And just when you wonder how you will pay you’ll hear Jesus say: “Put it on my bill .. ” That’s what he’s done with your life. He’s put everything about your life on his bill. He’s paid up your past. He’s current on your present. Your future is covered. But he gives you an intimate image to hold in your heart and write upon your mind: He is a God who touches wounds .. germs .. infection .. sin .. rejection .. accusations .. and cast offs. That too would be enough but there’s more. He moves in and He is going room by room through your life .. wound by wound .. all broken things .. all hurts .. and He is making you well .. whole .. and willing to love life again. With Jesus and you … it only takes a moment ..

“A Samaritan traveling the road came on him. When he saw the man’s condition, his heart went out to him. He gave him first aid, disinfecting and bandaging his wounds. Then he lifted him onto his donkey, led him to an inn, and made him comfortable. In the morning he took out two silver coins and gave them to the innkeeper, saying, ‘Take good care of him. If it costs any more, put it on my bill—I’ll pay you on my way back.'” Luke 10:33-35 The Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
