The Cross: Un-stuck living

March 27, 2014

“When you were stuck in your old sin-dead life, you were incapable of responding to God. God brought you alive—right along with Christ! Think of it! All sins forgiven, the slate wiped clean, that old arrest warrant canceled and nailed to Christ’s cross.” Colossians 2:13-14 The Message

We really don’t think about “it” that much. Why would you? The gift of God’s grace: extravagant love .. inexhaustible love .. never-ending love. With all of that as the mainspring of your life, why would you think about your old life .. your past sins .. and all the stuff that made your life stuck? One of God’s great gifts is the freedom to live truly-free in his love .. made alive through his resurrection life .. and no longer having to drag around your old sin resume. Life would be truly miserable if you had to carry around all your past .. all your regrets .. and all your mistakes. But you don’t have to … ever again! The Cross contains every nail meant for your life. You’re no longer stuck to what defined you .. dictated your path .. or all those whispering demand-demons that try to extract re-payment. The Cross of our Master, Jesus Christ has set you free for something this world totally denies: a “totally new, free life .. all sins forgiven .. slate wiped clean”. GOD is doing that work in you. There’s no arrest warrant for your soul. When you think you’re stuck .. look at Jesus. He’s freed your life. You’re not stuck any longer. You’re free to live for Christ: all out .. all in .. all of you. “Because of that Cross ” …. it only takes a moment ….

“For my part, I am going to boast about nothing but the Cross of our Master, Jesus Christ. Because of that Cross, I have been crucified in relation to the world, set free from the stifling atmosphere of pleasing others and fitting into the little patterns that they dictate. Can’t you see the central issue in all of this? … It is what God is doing, and he is creating something totally new, a free life!” Galatians 614-15 The Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
