Are you kidding…?

“And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.” John 1:14 Mew American Standard

Jesus wasn’t born into a simpler time. The Roman government had allowed the Jewish faith to continue and be practiced in public, but within the confines of Roman law. It made for a form of civil and religious peace. It was a strange time to actively be looking-for and living-for God to show up. And show up He did. He showed up in the right family but lacking social and economic prestige and position. His parents could only offer the barest of acceptable birth gifts to the “church”. Then He grew up and faced everything you have ever faced in your life … multiplied beyond belief. You think you face pressures? The Bible says we looked at “grace and truth” wrapped in our skin. It’s not hard to believe that Jesus was just like you. It’s just easier to add that he was just better. The Roman government dismissed him and his Jewish leaders despised Him for not acting anything like the God they wanted. We still do at times as well. He doesn’t act like the God we want. You usually find Him at your weakest points. He’s right there with help .. all the help you need. You don’t always escape embarrassment or end up “winning”. Yet, you find something more. He’s on your side. He’s at your side. He’s changing you into His side. What you find is a God who doesn’t run from your troubles or reject you for your struggles.. weakness .. or failing. You find grace to help you and truth to free you. You find .. it only takes a moment …

“He’s been through weakness and testing, experienced it all– all but the sin. So let’s walk right up to him and get what he is so ready to give. Take the mercy, accept the help.” Hebrews 4:16 The Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
