If anyone ….

April 1, 2014

“Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone wishes to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me. For whoever wishes to save his life shall lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake shall find it.” Matt. 16:24-25 New American Standard

They didn’t understand it … so why would you? Jesus is describing the impossible: Giving up everything about yourself .. everything. The cross he is talking about is that big. It will consume everything about your life. The cross Jesus is talking about is about following him. The cross Jesus is talking about isn’t faceless or some agonizing burden that you are stuck with for the rest of your life. He’s talking about carrying your life with all its details and following Him. You soon discover you can’t carry it. Your life weighs too much. The stuff you are carrying weighs too much. The only way you can carry this cross that Jesus is talking about is to let go of your life .. to let go of your stuff .. and to let Him carry it .. you included. Deny yourself…? It’s impossible without Jesus. But with Him … it only takes a moment ..

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
