Whatever ….

April 8, 2014

“Keep your eyes on Jesus, who both began and finished this race we’re in. Study how he did it. Because he never lost sight of where he was headed — that exhilarating finish in and with God — he could put up with anything along the way: Cross, shame, whatever.” Hebrews 12:2-3 The Message

The hardest thing you will do today is “keep” your eyes on Jesus. It’s hard to “see” him in the ordinary events and plans. You know you need him, but there is always the next thing in front of your eyes .. seeking your attention .. even demanding your full concentration. Faith in Christ .. living trust .. and a full identity actually comes from want Jesus did for you. He never lost sight of the prize: your life redeemed .. forgiven .. restored in the fullness of God’s love. Would you be willing today to have the end of your life remembered in shame .. humiliation .. and an unbearable death? And to do so for men and women just like you with all your struggles .. problems .. sins .. and sometimes wavering faith that God can be trusted? Jesus did. He didn’t look back. The last thing he gave away was the gift of a foot washing and a piece of bread and cup of wine that would remind you of Him. He never lost sight of the prize of your life … and you can put your eyes on Jesus throughout every detail of your day. You might find yourself making decisions with more deliberations and thankfulness. Because with Jesus , you aren’t alone trying to figure out now to live for Him. In reality, Jesus is figuring out how to live through you with all that “stuff” that makes up your life. (He’s already got it figured out .. but faith is about you trusting Him for the way ahead.) So today…? It only takes a moment …

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
