What does it look like …. in you?

May 6, 2014

“Let me give you a new command: Love one another. In the same way I loved you, you love one another. This is how everyone will recognize that you are my disciples—when they see the love you have for each other.” John 13:34-35 The Message

What kind of LOVE is this that is so powerful that others will recognize Jesus? Jesus implies that your life will be so unusual .. so different in character .. and so unlike you. You can’t LOVE like this. You may be able to reproduce it but you can’t sustain it. The kind of LOVE Jesus is talking about is always original. It originates in Him. It only and always resides in Him. And it is only sustained and supplied through His indwelling LIFE. The kind of LOVE Jesus is talking about is life-changing in every arena of your life. Everything you do becomes saturated with His Love. Everyone you meet .. talk with .. work with .. even momentarily .. come in contact with the most powerful grace on earth …. and all through you. God didn’t make any rules. He already knows how weary you became just “trying” to live a life of love without Him. That’s why Christ’s-life-in you makes all things new. He doesn’t recycle. He creates a LOVE in you that causes others to recognize Him. And it’s the kind of LOVE that you don’t even know you are doing. It’s just your real life .. fully alive .. in Christ .. and Christ’s risen life .. fully alive .. in you. it’s the kind of LOVE you wanted and waited for all your life …. and it only takes a moment …

“He’s the one who told us how thoroughly love had been worked into your lives by the Spirit.” Colossians 1:8 The Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
