He could have waited …

May 8, 2014

“For here’s what I’m going to do: I’m going to take you out of these countries, gather you from all over, and bring you back to your own land. I’ll pour pure water over you and scrub you clean. I’ll give you a new heart, put a new spirit in you. I’ll remove the stone heart from your body and replace it with a heart that’s God-willed, not self-willed.” Ezekiel 36:24-26 The Message

God could have waited for you to make the next move … but He didn’t. He found you when you were living in a strange land. He saw and knew the condition of your heart. He knows there is no way you could ever live without a new heart and new spirit. Our condition was such that we never realized that a “new heart” was even possible. We are used to reworking our old heart and just living with it the best we can … but God isn’t. Even before we are ready He declares: “You’ll be my people. I’ll be your God.” How much is a God-willed heart worth? How much has your self-willed heart stolen from your life and others? Jesus told his disciples he would send the Friend .. the Holy Spirit .. to be with them .. to live in them .. and to lead them as they walked and lived by faith. That same promise is for you today. God has given you a new heart in Christ. Jesus could have waited for you to show that you were serious about trusting him first … but he didn’t. He’s given you a new heart to live the only kind of life His heart knows how to live .. whole and complete in the Father’s love. He could have waited … but He didn’t want to. And if you are waiting … you don’t have to either. It only takes a moment …

“I’ll put my Spirit in you and make it possible for you to do what I tell you and live by my commands. You’ll once again live in the land I gave your ancestors. You’ll be my people! I’ll be your God!” Ezekiel 36:27-28 The Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
