Desperate meets Deliberate …

May 29, 2014

“And there came a man named Jairus, and he was an official of the synagogue; and he fell at Jesus’ feet, and began to implore him to come to his house, for he had an only daughter, about twelve years old , and she was dying. But as He went, the crowds were pressing against Him.” Luke 8:41-42 New American Standard

There is never enough time .. when you are out of time. One man begged. One woman touched. They were both out of time and both desperate. And Jesus…? He had time to stop and look her in the eyes .. because no one looked at her anymore. He saw faith reach beyond her fear. And she needed to hear that God heard her faith. The desperate father had run out of time. The crowd created fear. Jesus created faith. And a father and mother learned that God was bigger than a crowd and enjoyed the greatest meal of their lives with their returned daughter. A woman needed to hear that her faith was beyond her touch. A father needed to hear that his faith was personal and he didn’t owe the crowd an explanation. He begged and she was too embarrassed to beg. His humility found faith. Her humiliation found the face of Jesus. Both of them were amazed. Somewhere between these two lives is your life. Everyone comes to that place in their life where time has run out .. only to discover that the only time that really matters is with you and Jesus. There isn’t a formula .. a method .. or a right answer. Begging doesn’t put you at the front of the line and humiliation doesn’t disqualify you. With Jesus you discover that you aren’t a distraction and no one is more important than you. The crowd cannot drown him out. He can hear and feel your whisper or touch. And you are left amazed that He can give you a faith that is more real than the burden .. the fear .. or the desperation. It only takes a moment …

“In the crowd that day there was a woman who for twelve years had been afflicted with hemorrhages. She had spent every penny she had on doctors but not one had been able to help her. She slipped in from behind and touched the edge of Jesus’ robe. At that very moment her hemorrhaging stopped.” Luke 8:43-44 The Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
