Breakin’ out in the open …

June 19,2014

“He is about to break into the open with his rule, so proclaim the Message with intensity; keep on your watch. Challenge, warn, and urge your people. Don’t ever quit. Just keep it simple.” 2 Timothy 4:2 The Message

An old preacher wrote a young preacher about focus. He didn’t give him a method. He just reminded him to “preach the gospel .. in season .. and out of season”. There would be good days and bad days. There would be days that went smoothly and days where nothing went right. But still .. this young preacher was to preach the gospel. Proclaiming with intensity doesn’t mean without being sensitive. You are to “keep on your watch” as well. Everyone has a watch .. that place or arena where God has your life. It could be in smooth places. It could be in uncertain places. It could be in very familiar places. It could be in planned moments that you’ve dreamed or worked toward your whole life. The old preacher just says for you to preach .. to proclaim .. to share the gospel. That’s the one Message each of us has been entrusted to never quit .. never give up .. and to keep it simple. (You may think yourself not qualified .. not prepared .. not the right person.) you would be wrong. You are God’s man .. God’s woman .. proclaiming the greatest Message needed for today. Don’t quit .. don’t succumb to the lie that you, a follower of Jesus Christ, are not the right man or woman to carry this Message. God’s in the proclaiming business and your life is his daily message of what His life can transform .. heal .. and change into a Message of LIFE. Keep it simple .. leave the complex parts to the Father .. Son .. and Holy Spirit. They’re pretty good at straightening out broken and crooked places with grace and truth…. it only takes a moment…

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
