Everyday living…

August 19, 2014

“I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. 2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” Romans 12:1-2 English 12 1-2

Because of what Chris has done on the Cross .. for you .. and now . in you .. you can do the impossible: offer your body to Christ. What happens next is incredible:’you may be conscious of work undone and incomplete. Maybe so .. but God sees another where it is acceptable to God. There is nothing to hide in your ordinary life because this is exactly where your life will shine. You take your “everyday” ordinary, walking around life, and give it to God. He knows now to use your life . The real challenge is not getting too accustomed to everything going on around you. Too often, we are trying to squeeze God’s agenda into our lives. When you offer your life to Christ, you are asking Him to shape His life .. His agenda .. and His ways of living His liFe in you. His Words are stored in your heart and you begin to see . But first … there is just this offering of your life to God. It only takes a moment …

“So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.” Romans 12:1-2 The Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
