Settling down …

November 14, 2014

“Long before he laid down earth’s foundations, he had us in mind, had settled on us as the focus of his love, to be made whole and holy by his love” Ephesians 1:4 The Message

It’s hard to believe that God really chose you before he planned the world. Being chosen makes us uncomfortable because we are used to making choices or cooperating in the process .. but “settled on” leaves you no choice. His choice wasn’t random or undefined. Your life was settled on to become whole and holy. How.. Who could make that kind of change .. a permanent change .. a life-long change in you? God announces his purpose and plan and you don’t begin to realize what he has done until you step into .. accept .. and trust in what God says about you. Your life will find its true identity in Christ. Why would you fear a life that is lived so openly for God? Maybe because we try to combine parts of this world with parts of the world to come. They don’t fit but we try to combine them so that we’ll fit in .. our kids will fit in .. or simply because we want those things that make life easier. God has said that in Christ, your life was settled on .. chosen .. to become whole and holy. The only life that can make that happen is in Christ. The Cross he represents invades ever area of living. It invades your space. There isn’t one area of your life where the Cross of Christ will not begin to push out anything that keeps you from living freely in His grace. Whatever is in front of your day … He won’t let go.

“It’s in Christ that we find out who we are and what we are living for…”‘Ephesians 1:11 The Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
