Relax … He’s got it

November 19/20

“Now we look inside, and what we see is that anyone united with the Messiah gets a fresh start, is created new. The old life is gone; a new life burgeons!” 2 Cor. 5:17 The Message

What a relief that Christ makes you “new”. He doesn’t just make life better or hold out promises for you to earn. His life makes your life “relax”. It doesn’t happen overnight .. but it is already settled with God. The only thing holding you back is you learning to love Christ’s life in you. The Father sees you in the life of His Son. Jesus even describes God’s daily care of your life: attend to you .. take pride in you .. and even do his best for you. (He’s that kind of God!) We spend so much time “fussing” over our lives. We don’t call it that, but our today-wearied lives .. heart-stressed lives .. and un-rested souls take their toil. Jesus narrows it down quickly by describing our lives by what we eat and wear. Those two areas rent a lot of space on the inside. But if you “seek first His kingdom and His righteousness … God will fill in all the other spaces inside. He’ll clean out the old stuff .. and custom fit you with His Son’s life. You won’t find a better offer for today. He won’t let go….

“If God gives such attention to the appearance of wildflowers—most of which are never even seen—don’t you think he’ll attend to you, take pride in you, do his best for you? What I’m trying to do here is to get you to relax, to not be so preoccupied with getting, so you can respond to God’s giving. People who don’t know God and the way he works fuss over these things, but you know both God and how he works. Steep your life in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. Don’t worry about missing out. You’ll find all your everyday human concerns will be met.” Matt. 6:30-33 The Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
