He Always Meant New …

November 27. 2104

“Now we look inside, and what we see is that anyone united with the Messiah gets afresh start, is created new. The old life is gone, a new life burgeons.” 2Cor. 5:17 The Message

Paul spent much of his life and ministry having to defend himself. He believed in Grace as the operation system for us life and anyone else. He didn’t rely on the wealth of his training. His message was Christ crucified. And he expected any man or woman who genuinely confronted this cross to either accept this gift or refuse and walk away. The life Christ offers you is not halfway. He wants everything that comes with your life. And what does he offer you: perfect submission to the Father. Most of the real struggles in your life are a result of wrestling with letting God lead and direct your steps .. or you trying to maintain control and hope God will give you some help. The Holy Spirit’s work in you is to apply everything Jesus did for you .. now applied in you. He doesn’t ask permission. He invites your trusting acceptance. And as one old desert YMCA pastor once wrote : “the resounding evidence of the Holy Spirit in a man or woman is an unmistakable resemblance to Jesus Christ and freedom from everything unlike him.” Paul pursued lives because he had no other choice. He was compelled by the love of Christ. His longing is for you to have Christ formed in you. And it starts with being that “anyone” who says Christ is my life. Jesus will finish his work in you. And you will like it .. because grace and truth are new. You’ve never had them until you met Jesus .. or rather Jesus met you .. and offered something so great .. without cost .. with only one outcome. Life-served .. life freed .. and a life where Jesus has the first, last, and final word over your life. He won’t let go …..

“If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation, the old things have passed away, behold, the new things have come.” 2 Cor. 5:17 English Standard

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
