“because He will save His people from their sins.” Matt. 1:21 HCS

They were weak but didn’t know it .. or maybe they had just given up. They needed help but real help had not arrived for so long that they just managed life with little hope. The God they served was known and revealed as “great and highly to be praised”(Ps. 145:3) .. but it had been so long since real praise had poured out of their lungs. Then the Lord did what no one expected: He showed up .. arrived .. and was given the name “the Lord saves”. Why? Because this is who He is. He saves us from ourselves .. from places of darkness .. doubt .. little sins .. bigger sins .. and all sin. He saves us out of despair .. discouragement .. and all those places where you get stuck and can’t get unstuck without Him. His is no mistaken identity. His birth records stretch back to Abraham .. through David and all his victories and personal mess .. through exile .. right up to a man named Joseph. Everything about Jesus life is in order. The saving life of Christ began out of the paths of power. His pedigree is envied by kings and rulers today. Yet, the lowest and forgotten find Him at home in their world. Somewhere in between is your world and Jesus fits exactly in that place .. that spot .. and that moment where you need Him today. He is the one named “Yahweh saves”. He will be your strength and stronghold today. He’s come for you. It doesn’t matter if you haven’t turned the pages in some time. It doesn’t matter if you’ve done everything right. It doesn’t matter if you’ve done everything wrong. He’s come to save and He has the Name and family resume to back it up. You can start fresh today. You can begin with His name on your lips .. filling your heart .. coating your mind .. and changing the course of your steps into His steps. Why? Because .. it only takes a moment.

“And he named Him Jesus.” Matt. 1:25 HCS

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
