“The Word became flesh and took up residence among us. We observed His glory, the glory as the One and Only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.” John 1:14 HCS
The Israelites knew God as unapproachable. He was good. He was faithful. But He was always known at a distance. He was their Deliverer. He was their Abundance .. Prosperity .. and Promise. He warned them about pursuing life without Him. Life without God as Defender .. Sustainer .. and Provider would become defenseless .. anxious .. and always wanting. That has never changed for any man or woman .. or any nation. That hole inside your heart was always meant to find your true home in the Lord. No matter how hard we try, we just can’t make it home on our own. So God became more than we could ever imagine. He became soft cartilage .. perspired in the heat .. a creator who became tired and thirsty .. and a saving king who walked with finite footprints. Everything about His life became approachable. His power poured out in mercy. His words healed through His mouth and His touch. He never acted or reacted without complete grace and truth. Just think: Jesus always initiates and responds with grace and truth toward your life .. always! There will not be one moment of this day when all of His grace and His truth are not available for every need and situation in your life. For one brief moment grace and truth had fingerprints. Now the Holy Spirit pours out an immeasurable supply. Why would we choose to live so defenseless .. anxiously .. and always wanting without Christ? How different today would look if we had to face it thinking that Jesus life was confined to a place in history and nothing more. But we can join the song writer and praise the Lord today for His life pursuing us .. for His life poured out for us .. and for His life poured into these once dry .. weary .. cracked .. and broken vessels called you and me. Because it only takes a moment .. full of grace and truth .. to change everything.
“Let everything that breathes praise the Lord. Hallelujah” Psalm 150:6 HCS
