“I give thanks to Christ Jesus our Lord, who has strengthened me, because He considered me faithful, appointing me to the ministry — one who was formerly a blasphemer, a persecutor, and an arrogant man.” 1 Timothy 1:12-13 HCS
The birth of Jesus forever changed how men and women become accepted .. qualified .. and found faithful. One of the “worst” was considered “faithful” by Christ after being and doing everything he could do to erase Jesus. If you’ve ever wondered what the Lord sees in you: try a life of blaspheming(God accusing, God cursing, and God ignoring) .. church hating .. and acting supremely arrogant. Instead of ruin, Jesus pronounced this man “faithful” for a life of ministry. His only qualification was his complete surrender to Jesus, who demonstrated just how patient God really is. Jesus came to this earth to “save sinners”. He wasn’t looking for the perfect and right. He came looking for broken hearts .. strugglers of every kind of life and lifestyle .. and persons fed up with how they were living their lives and wanted something more. Do you see yourself as such a man or woman: once the worst kind of sinner .. now a living example of Christ’s indefatigable patience? In between those two life-markers are overflowing grace and a sin defeating cross. Their power is immeasurable and He never quits pouring into your life .. pursuing you to the ends of anything and everything .. placing in you the power of the cross. We just couldn’t imagine that God’s job qualifications allows for lives messed up on the inside. It all begins with the birth of Jesus. In Christ you find the only acceptance that can lead you home. In Christ you find the perfect fulfillment of everything you’ve done wrong. In Christ you find the only One who can put your life together as it was designed. Jesus will not leave the slightest imperfection. Why? Because He has and is the “endless patience” you so desperately need. Why is He these qualities? Because He came into a fallen world disguised by darkness .. tormented by illness .. seeking faithfulness. He won’t quit until He’s finished in you. And you? … It only takes a moment.
“This saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners — and I am the worst of them. But I received mercy because of this, so that in me, the worst of them, Christ Jesus might demonstrate the utmost patience as an example those who would believe in Hm for eternal life.” 1 Timothy 1:15-16 HCS
