Hands off …

“Now if we have died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him.” Romans 8:8 NAS

Your day begins with a subtle onslaught to take control of your life .. in your own strength .. by your own devices .. for your own ends. The world’s message is for you to devise your own plans and ask God to bless the. Then you set out to make it happen .. working with focused energy .. fueled with good intentions. That’s how most people manage their lives. It’s not a criticism or judgment. It’s just how life in a fallen world works .. each man or woman doing what seems best “in their own eyes”. (Judges 21:25) It is a broken down system that exhausts you until you see the life that Christ offers. He was born to die so that you could die to be born. And when you die in Christ you suddenly discover you are more alive than you could ever imagine or achieve on your own. Life is complicated because sin messes up everything. Relationships become misaligned. Friendships become wearisome and unsatisfying. And you try to find some other solution or method that will make life work apart from Christ being the center of your life. When Jesus isn’t the center of your life, sooner or later you will run aground. Again, it is never a simple or easy fix. Nothing about Christ is. His life begins to work in the deepest places of your heart .. reaching back into years covered over with scars .. or untangling habits that creep in bit by bit. Jesus knows exactly where to help you lighten your grip on the “things” of this world and the world you live in. There isn’t formula. There is just a grace filled gift called faith that is God breathed .. life affirming .. and actually makes your life worth living. The good news: you’re not in control because it isn’t your life to control … it’s Christ living His life in you. It only takes a moment…

“For you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God.” Colossians 3:3 NAS

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
