“But this is the covenant Which I will make with the house of Israel after those days, ” declares the Lord. “I will put My law within them and on their heart I will write it; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.” Jeremiah 31:33 NAS
What kind of God is this that looks on His people everyday .. day after day .. and repeatedly has to watch how far they will go to live without Him .. without trusting him .. without living lives of faith and love? Who could make up such a God as the One who comes after us? Your life and faith is tied up with an ancient people known as Red Sea Crossers .. Desert Wanderers .. Promised Land Receivers .. and Continually Wandering Sheep. Your family lineage stretches back to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. The tribe of Judah points to the One who would reconcile “all things” about your life on a cross. There will come a day when the very name of Jesus will cause every living soul to fall on their knees in unrestrained confession of who He is. But only those who know Him .. trust Him .. have received Him into their hearts .. accepted His once-for-all work on the cross .. and believed He is the Lord will rise to new life. It seems so severe and yet it is incredibly gracious .. immeasurably patient .. and beyond any earthly comparison. God has written a new covenant upon your heart. You didn’t write it. He didn’t ask for your permission. He wrote it there long before you ever knew who He was or what He had done. So much of our lives and faith are entangled in “today” .. what is happening today or what is connected to past events or circumstances. What God said thousands of years ago hardly rises to the surface of problems and challenges you are facing today. But when the Lord looks at your life, He sees what He has written .. He sees what His Son has done on that cross .. and He sees you as His own. No matter how hard life may be confronting you, you belong to Jesus .. Messiah .. Son .. Savior .. and Lord. It’s written on your heart .. reconciled on a cross .. and indefatigably true today. He holds your life….
“And through Him to reconcile all things to Himself, having made peace through the blood of His cross; through Him, I say, whether things on earth or things in heaven.” Colossians 1:20 NAS
