“If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our abode with him.” John 14:23 NASB
God is serious about words .. especially His words to us .. and to you. He says a lot about who He is .. how this world works and how it is broken. He even says a lot about how broken we are and how worn out we become when we try to make our own “words” replace His words. But often, we can make our “words” work for a really long time .. and often successfully. Our “words” can work so well that we don’t feel messed up .. broken .. or even sinful. And God doesn’t fight us over our “words” and His Words. Because He knows our “words” cannot fill the life in us that He meant for us to live. Jesus prayed that His Father would work His truth throughout every corner of our lives. He said his Father’s Words were truth. And Jesus said if you will “keep” His words, you will begin to know how much the Father loves you .. and just how far into your life the Father and Son will move in. God’s Words will make a home in you. It may be uncomfortable at times because His home Words will begin to rearrange .. restore .. renovate .. and re-create your life. That’s why His Words are livable .. everyday .. in every situation. They won’t demand that you to follow .. trust .. or obey. They just promise to build your life into a life of following .. trusting .. and obeying. It only takes a moment .. and another moment .. and another moment. And ps … God wrote His Words for everyday. Without them, you’ll end up listening to someone else or even yourself again. And those words can’t fill your life. God is serious about words .. and His Words are the special ones for you … today.
“Every part of Scripture is God-breathed and useful one way or another – showing us truth, exposing our rebellion, correcting our mistakes, training us to live God’s way.” 2 Timothy 3:16 The Message
