You Can’t Mean Me…?

Jan. 4, 2016

“So that you will walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, to please Him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God.” Colossians 1:10 NASB

Who can possibly live this kind of life? The pressure to live everyday “worthy” of the Lord .. pleasing Him in everything .. living a fruitful life .. and growing in the intimate knowledge of who God is everyday? And to start this day knowing that you are “chosen” by God to be His instrument of grace .. a voice in the world you live in of how much God has changed your life: nothing to something .. rejected to accepted? If the pressure feels immense .. overwhelming .. and absolutely impossible .. then .. you are qualified for every word that God has written about your life. The Lord doesn’t just write a description or waste words about possibilities. He describes what your life looks like alive in Christ. Or rather, what Christ’s life looks like alive in you. His life is your worth .. His life is pleasing to the Father in every respect .. His life is the intimacy you long for with God the Father. The Lord knows everything about you.. everything! He knows exactly where you feel so unworthy to be called a christian. He knows exactly where you struggle to “be” a follower of Jesus. What is incredible to all of our lives is that all we are asked .. invited .. filled .. and empowered to do is tell the “night-and-day-difference Jesus has made .. is making .. and has declared forever who we “really are” in Christ. All of the pressure has been lifted. A lifetime of trying to be good enough has been nailed. God has stepped into your brokenness so you can quit trying to be good enough. The resurrection of Jesus comes served with the holy laughter of freedom and a life of time to tell others about the night and day difference of your once-life and now-life.  What are you going to do today? Start with a story .. it only takes a moment

“But you are the ones chosen by God, chosen for the high calling of priestly work, chosen to be holy people, God’s instruments to do his work and speak out for him, to tell others of the night and day difference he made for you–from nothing to something, from rejected to accepted.” 1 Peter 2:9-10 The Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
