Who knew God’s specialty…

January 22, 2o16

“God went for the jugular when he sent his own Son. he didn’t deal with the problem as something remote and unimportant. In his Son, Jesus, he personally took on the human condition, entered the disordered mess of struggling humanity in order to set it right once and for all.” Romans 8:3 MSG

Once and for all … that was the only way to deal with the mess of your life. Not everyone has a messed up and broken into a million-pieces-kind of life. Some look “normal” .. raised with a healthy foundation of love and encouragement ..  a strong family. Some had families in name only .. friction and faithlessness mark the path that grew you up. But the truth is that there is not a “normal” family apart from the “personally – entered – set- it -right Son”.  He is the only one who can set the easiest or the the most destructive  families back in alignment with Him. And he did it by dealing with your problem. It doesn’t matter how small it was or is. It doesn’t matter how many layers there are … Jesus specialty is mercy. He took on your mess .. embarrassing or not. He doesn’t do it with a grimace but with steel hardened love for who you are before God the Father and who you will become when He moves into your life .. freely and fully. And all the stuff that has been written or stored about your life? It lies at the bottom of the ocean .. unreachable by you ever again. So, once and for all starts your day … start it in His grip .. He won’t let go … and it only takes a moment …

“Where is  the god that can compare with you –  wiping a blind eye, a deaf ear, to the past sins of your purged and precious people? You don’t nurse your anger and don’t say angry long, for mercy is your speciality. That’s what you love most. And compassion is on its way to us. You’ll stamp out our wrongdoing, You’ll sink our sins to the bottom of the ocean.” Micah 7:18-20a MSG

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
