What does your day hold?

January 27, 2016

“So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life–- your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life– and  place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him.” Romans 12:1 The Message

There is a day of choices before you.  You can live your life your own way and in your own strength and ask for God’s help if you remember .. or .. you can begin this day by offering  your “everyday” day life to the Lord and trusting in His plan for your day. The world’s message is that your day belongs to you to choose and direct it as you desire. It’s your choice. You can ask for God’s help but best to plan on living today without Him. He doesn’t really expect you to turn everything over to His care. He expects you to do your part and then He will help out where needed. That’s “a” choice before you today. The other choice is the Christ-secured freedom to rest in the great energy of God’s work being done in you and by faith through you. You start and continue throughout the day knowing that Jesus gets the last word. You find you’re not sitting back and waiting as much as you are willing and walking. You can give Him your everyday plans and all those unseen times and unspoken intentions and let Him shape your life and your plans into His plan. He’s generous .. Jesus really does want your life “put together” and whole. He knows that is only possible through Him today. He knows this and wants it for you .. but He won’t force you. The choice isn’t about right and wrong or success and failure. It’s about living confidently in His grip .. intimately in His Spirit .. and intentionally for His glory.  He is offering you the gift of His life so that your life may become a gift available for Him today. You’ll find that you really don’t want to keep control. This way .. more of you becomes real in Christ. That’s where it starts and .. it only takes moment …

“It won’t be long before this generous God who has great plans for us in Christ — eternal and glorious plans they are! — will have you put together and on your feet for good. He gets the last word; yes, he does. 1 Peter 5:11 The Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
