When trust fades into Truth..

February 4, 2016

“This is the core of our preaching. Say the welcoming word to God—“Jesus is my Master”—embracing, body and soul, God’s work of doing in us what he did in raising Jesus from the dead. That’s it. You’re not “doing” anything; you’re simply calling out to God, trusting him to do it for you. That’s salvation. With your whole being you embrace God setting things right, and then you say it, right out loud: “God has set everything right between him and me!” Romans 10:9-11 The Message

Is there anything harder than “trusting” God to work in your life? You have to let him set the timetable. You have to let the Lord sort through all the messy areas of your life and use what he wants to use and remove what he wants to remove. You have to let Jesus into every corner of your heart. There is nothing harder than trusting God to keep his word in your life. When you’re at the utter depths of living broken and managing all the wounded areas of your life, God’s invitation to set everything right is the greatest relief you can ever imagine. Trust fades when life is going along “pretty good” and you slip back into thinking that you’re basically pretty good except for a few manageable flaws. What flaws?  How you look at other people .. how you love .. and whether you serve others from convenience or sacrifice. Is there anything harder for you today than to say: Jesus, be the Master of my life? You have to let Jesus have all of your time .. what you’ve scheduled .. and what He wants to add to your schedule. Is there anything harder today than taking this moment to say in your heart and with your lips: Lord, I will love you with all my heart .. soul .. mind .. and strength! You will be the focus and foundation of my day. You know at that moment that you “can’t do it”. You can’t love Him that completely. You know that what you’re really asking and saying is: Jesus .. be my all today. Be the true love of my life and lead me in the truth of your life today. It only takes a moment …

” And I command you today; Love God, your God. Walk in his ways. Keep his commandments, regulations, and rules so that you will live, really live, live exuberantly, blessed by God, your God, in the land you are about to enter and possess.” Debt. 30:16 The Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
