It looks a lot like …?

February 9, 2016

“So, as those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience; bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, whoever has a complaint against anyone, just as the Lord forgave you, so also should you.” Colossians 3:12-13 NASB

The Christian life is about learning to love the life that Christ is living in you. What kind of life does that look like? It looks a lot like the life that Jesus lived. Except your life will reflect and reveal who Christ is living in you. There wasn’t anyone who couldn’t approach Jesus. His life invited a question about faith or how to live beyond fear. He approached men and women in some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives and He left them feeling that God loved them far deeper than their wound .. shame .. and brokeness. And that is the same life He wants to live in you. Except He will be both: He’ll approach you where you are most vulnerable .. hurt .. and rejected .. AND .. He will approach others through your life because of who He is in you. Your old life doesn’t disqualify you. Your new life in Christ is marked by words worked deep into your heart and mind: “chosen .. holy .. and beloved.” It can take some time to really believe .. rest in .. and begin to fully live the abiding reality of who Christ is in your new life. It’s so much easier to become busy in activities and try to measure your success by how tired you become or how much energy you’ve expended trying to live a Christ-like life. The real gift awaiting you today is life in Christ .. His life working into and throughout every part of who you are. It seems so simple to say that all He has to offer you is a relationship. Except that is ALL He has to offer and He’s not holding back anything for you today. It only takes a moment …

“It’s in Christ that we find out who we are and what we are living for. Long before we first heard of Christ and got our hopes up, he had his eye on us, had designs on us for glorious living, part of the overall purpose he is working out in everything and everyone.” Ephesians 1:11-12 MSG

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
