“Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God.” Colossians 3:16 NASB

The Apostle Paul told a group of Jesus Followers that “his words” were to be interior decoration of their lives. He knew they would face a relentless assault upon their senses and thoughts to replace Jesus-words with today-words that would only leave them famished and poor. Jesus said if you loved Him you would keep His words. They are to be in every room inside your life. Not crammed into corners or collecting dust .. but out in the open .. available .. worn by use .. used with grace. Paul’s goal was to leave disciples who would leave Jesus-words along the everyday trail of their lives stretching all the way into today .. straight into your life.  A disciple is “anyone whose ultimate goal is to live as Jesus would live if he were in their place.”(Dallas Willard) You can’t live this way without Jesus-words. You’ll run dry .. turn to your own resources .. and settle for todays scraps. When Jesus has the “run of the house” inside of you .. you have rich treasure to give away.  This very day becomes another part of Jesus living his life in you .. passing His words through you .. and speaking His words with you. He’s never hurried. He has all the time you need. You’ll be left with thankfulness: amazed that thankfulness can withstand an onslaught of struggles .. temptations .. and uncertainties. His words sustains the weary .. fills the empty .. refreshes the faithful .. supplies the hungry .. and renews anyone who is His “disciple”. Instead of you, it becomes about Jesus. And because of Jesus, you become more of the real you .. full of the “grace and truth” found in Him.

“And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.” John 1:14 NASB

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
