CrossRoads:Freedom’s highway

February 24, 2016

“He used his servant body to carry our sins to the Cross so we could be rid of sin, free to live the right way. His wounds became your healing. You were lost sheep with no idea who you were or where you were going. Now you’re named and kept for good by the Shepherd of your souls.” 1 Peter 2:24-25 MSG

Jesus carried every ounce of darkness .. deceit .. denial .. defeat .. and dread that sin ever produced in your body. That would have been good enough. But He went further than you or I could ever comprehend. He carried every sin of your life in His body. He carried .. He wore it .. and He felt and became your prison. It was the only way for you to be free.  And the way before today you is clearly marked. The Lord hasn’t left you to find your own way home. You are His .. free and cleared of all charges .. healed by His wounds .. and now “kept for good”. His grip is unbreakable. His grace is indefatigable. This Shepherd will never lose you. He knows your name. You are the part of a family called redeemed and ransomed. And you walk this CrossRoad in a broken and desperately lost world. The road you walk is in clear sight of everyone who lives free by this cross. Those that aren’t cannot see and will not .. unless … they hear the sound of the Shepherd’s voice .. realize the futility of trying to live on their own .. accept the exchange of His wounds for their sins .. gratefully walk towards home .. and learn the language of joy and gladness. This highway is paved with trust-surrender-believing-accepting-receiving-abiding-letting go-putting on-walking in-freedom. Jesus has already packed for your journey. Trust Him to lead the Way. It only takes a moment …

There will be a highway called the Holy Road. No one rude or rebellious is permitted on this road. It’s for God’s people exclusively— impossible to get lost on this road. Not even fools can get lost on it. No lions on this road, no dangerous wild animals— Nothing and no one dangerous or threatening. Only the redeemed will walk on it. The people God has ransomed will come back on this road. They’ll sing as they make their way home to Zion, unfading halos of joy encircling their heads, Welcomed home with gifts of joy and gladness,  as all sorrows and sighs scurry into the night.” Isaiah 35:8-10 MSG

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
