What’s the right answer..?

“…do you love Me?” John 21:17

You’ll hear the question and at first it seems obvious. You’ll hear it again and it seems like a mistake. The third time He asks you, you’ll feel the question hit its mark. Jesus could ask you any question? “Why did you do that? Can I trust you? Why won’t you let go of all the stuff you are carrying? Why won’t you trust Me? How could you do something like that after all I’ve done for you?” But He asks the single most penetrating question of your life:  Do you love Me? It took Peter three times to finally answer from his heart. Maybe  you’ll answer after the first, second, third , or hundredth time. His love for you won’t change. His pursuit of you won’t change. His question to you won’t change. “Do you love Me?” The question exposes how much or how little room you have in your heart and life for Christ. It’s not question about motives .. intentions .. or purpose. It’s a question about priorities .. focus .. and direction you are heading into today. Your answer will reveal what you think about Jesus. The cross proclaims His love for you long before you were ever interested. His scars reveal the depth of His love. His question asks you how you going to live today: in love .. with love ..  and out of His love? He’ll ask you until you finally stop and answer. And your answer will set the direction of your feet and the actions of your heart. “Do you love Me?” It only takes a moment .. and maybe another .. and maybe another.

“Master, you know everything there is to know. You’ve got to know that I love you.” John21:19

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
