A Perfect Fit …

March 7, 2016

“It’s obvious, of course, that he didn’t go to all this trouble for angels. It was for people like us, children of Abraham. That’s why he had to enter into every detail of human life. Then, when he came before God as high priest to get rid of the people’s sins, he would have already experienced it all himself—all the pain, all the testing—and would be able to help where help was needed.” Hebrews 2:16-18 MSG

How is it possible that one man was and is still able to “enter in every detail” of your life .. or anyone’s life and provide you with the help .. grace .. and strength you need everyday? There isn’t one hidden detail of your life that Jesus hasn’t covered. The smallest item left undone would undo you. The burden of that one item would crush you. Instead, He was crushed for you .. ridiculed and rejected over the details of your life. No one in their own strength or conscience believes for one moment that Jesus has made their life perfect. It takes more than a positive self image or optimism to think Christ became the worst of you because you were pretty good. The real picture of us is the very opposite. But that is exactly what He has done for you .. and in you. His Life and Spirit has freed you from a life of self-condemnation .. self-promotion .. and self-preservation. Jesus has experienced every detail of  your life .. your sins .. your pain .. your regret .. your guilt .. and even your unwillingness to accept, receive, and believe. All of that and more He has covered and claimed for your life. He surrendered his life on the cross in exchange for every detail of your life. So, as you go through this day, you do so freed by His life .. knowing that Christ is able to help you in everything .. trusting in His care .. and asking and accepting His grace.  He is the only perfect person who has ever lived and whose life is perfect for every detail in your life today. It only takes a moment …

“It was a perfect sacrifice by a perfect person to perfect some very imperfect people. By that single offering, he did everything that needed to be done for everyone who takes part in the purifying process.” Hebrews 10:14-15 MSG

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
