The promise of difficult moments …

March 9, 2016

“Friends, when life gets really difficult, don’t jump to the conclusion that God isn’t on the job. Instead, be glad that you are in the very thick of what Christ experienced. This is a spiritual refining process, with glory just around the corner.” 1 Peter 4:12-13 MSG

The story behind your life is incredible: Jesus Christ gave his life for all of your sins. He gave his life freely. He suffered unimaginably on your behalf so that you would not have to face that moment. He died .. and He rose from the dead. Those two facts define your life of faith. And the world you live in everyday tries to dismiss the impact of Christ’s  life and your life found in Christ. He said you would face the pressures and struggles He faced. Life would not be easy. No matter how nice you are .. how accomplished .. or connected .. the world does not want you to live and acknowledge Christ as the foundation of what makes your life worth living. God uses all the circumstances and challenges you are facing to work out His plan and design in your life. There’s no way you would have planned or designed for Jesus to be crushed on behalf of your life, so that you could experience life on God’s terms. But God did. It was always His plan to get you back .. and Jesus is that plan. And now? Your life with all of its challenges is the very soil where grace is made available .. holds you together .. works in you .. refining you ..  and is shaping your life along the lines of the Son. Difficult situations and circumstances are not God’s rejection. Jesus warned us that we would face such moments. Refining is always unpleasant in the moment. But strangely enough, it is where we meet Jesus risen .. resourceful .. and ready to help. He’s ready to help and be that help in your life today. He knows exactly what you are facing. It only takes a moment …

“Still, it’s what God had in mind all along.. to crush him with pain. The plan was that he give himself as an offering for sin so that he’d  see life come from it — life, life, and more life. And God’s plan will deeply prosper through him.” Is. 53:10 MSG

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
