Out in the open …

March 18, 2016

“Consider it a sheer gift friends, when tests and challenges come at you from all sides. You know that under pressure, your faith-life is forced out into the open and shows its true colors.” James 1:2-3 MSG

Jesus lived a life that was clearly out in the open spaces of broken lives .. hopeless lives .. and starving lives. His life carries the gift of calling your life out into the open spaces as well.  Your “faith-life” .. is a gift of grace that never quits on you .. never gives up on you .. and never runs out.  At every turn Jesus open his life to hurting and hungry .. anxious and angry .. rejected yet desperately hopeful lives. You will face the same pressures .. obstacles .. and faith-isn’t-enough challenges in your life: maybe today. God wants an intimate conversation with you. The life He has conceived in you is shaped in unconditional love .. inconceivable trust .. and unfathomable hope. Jesus is where this conversation begins as you start today and go through the day. He’s cleared the way by telling you that your Heavenly Father has conceived you in love and longs to fill your life with His Spirit. It doesn’t matter to him if you are feeling tossed around .. drained .. and maybe too numb from the battles around your life. He’s there .. your Father .. who hears your faintest voice or even hears the prayer of your exasperation. Jesus knows what life out in the open spaces looks and feels like under pressure .. unbearable pressure .. just give up pressure. He was punched .. pushed .. shoved .. ridiculed .. and nailed so you could walk out into the open space of His life. It’s His life that fills you today. He really does want to be the “source” of your everything today.  It only takes a moment …

“We take our lead from Christ, who is the source of everything we do. He keeps us in step with each other. His very breath and blood flow through us, nourishing us so that we will grow up healthy in God, robust in love .. And don’t you think the Father who conceived you in love will give the Holy Spirit when you ask him.” Ephesians 4:15-16, Luke 11:13 MSG

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
