“I’ll give you a new heart, put a new spirit in you. I’ll remove the stone heart from your body and replace it with a heart that’s God-willed, not self-willed. I’ll put my Spirit in you and make it possible for you to do what I tell you and live by my commands. You’ll once again live in the land I gave your ancestors. You’ll be my people! I’ll be your God! Ezekiel 36:27-28 MSG
You’ve had it .. felt it .. and carried it around hoping no one else would see it. We all have. A heart of stone: cold .. calloused .. colored over by life. You can spend years convincing yourself that one day it will be different. That everything on the outside will work it’s way into the inside and you’ll be fine. After all, you’ve done all the right things .. kept up the right appearances .. and for most part lived the right way. (There are always exceptions .. and you may be one of them.) No matter. God knows that the only way you’ll ever be “right” is with a new heart. That’s exactly what He has for you. Your age doesn’t matter. The mileage means nothing. He’s come to finally take away that “self-willed” heart that has ruled your life and caused so much damage. The “God-willed heart” comes bearing His name .. personally formed .. and shaped from the life of His Son’s own heart for you. He wants you back and it doesn’t matter how far you’ve wandered .. what distance He has to travel .. or where He has to go to round you up. He’s the Lord of the “broken and dislocated pieces .. and everything and everyone gets properly fixed and fitted together in Him.” (Colossians 1:18-19) It’s Christ who brings real freedom .. real healing .. and a real heart into the very space where a dry and stone encrusted heart once beat. You’ll find yourself breathing the fresh air of His Spirit .. and you’ll begin to relax .. you’re home for good. It only takes a moment ..
“So don’t be afraid: I’m with you. I’ll round up all your scattered children, pull them in from east and west. I’ll send orders north and south: ‘Send them back. Return my sons from distant lands, my daughters from faraway places. I want them back, every last one who bears my name, every man, woman, and child whom I created for my glory, yes, personally formed and made each one.’” Isaiah 43:5-7 MSG
