“I’m baptizing you here in the river, turning your old life in for a kingdom life. The real action comes next: The main character in this drama—compared to him I’m a mere stagehand—will ignite the kingdom life within you, a fire within you, the Holy Spirit within you, changing you from the inside out. He’s going to clean house—make a clean sweep of your lives. He’ll place everything true in its proper place before God; everything false he’ll put out with the trash to be burned.” Matt. 3:11-12/Mark 1:7-8 MSG
What does it take to reach that place .. that moment .. that space where you let go and let Jesus “ignite” the inside of your life. It’s an “inside out” life. You aren’t used to living that way and it takes God’s housecleaning in you so that you can quit fighting .. quit resisting .. and start living. Where do you find Jesus much of the time? He’s right there in the middle of the broken mess of our lives. He’s not walking away or placing demands. He’s not keeping anything in your life that isn’t shaped and truly formed by His Son. Jesus could have picked the best of the best .. bright minds .. strength .. and overall approvals from every sector of life. Instead you discover His disciples and followers from places of sickness .. evil .. tormented backgrounds .. and in the ordinary paths of making a living. Jesus didn’t preview backgrounds or social standing. He formed relationships forged on trust with Him. That would be and is the key to His secret. His relationships served others .. shared time alone for discussion .. and learned how to live a life that was pleasing in Christ. He called it Kingdom life: a life ruled by God .. filled with His presence .. and nourished by promise. Will His kingdom be your aim today? Will you make time to reach out at the very times people are unexpecting God to show up? He’ll show up .. though you. Why you? Because your life is just the life that God would work in and through today. Your life matters to God. It only takes a moment ..
“That evening, after the sun was down, they brought sick and evil-afflicted people to him, the whole city lined up at his door! He cured their sick bodies and tormented spirits. Because the demons knew his true identity, he didn’t let them say a word.” Mark 1:32-34 MSG
