Where is the god who can compare with you— wiping the slate clean of guilt, Turning a blind eye, a deaf ear, to the past sins of your purged and precious people? You don’t nurse your anger and don’t stay angry long, for mercy is your specialty. That’s what you love most. And compassion is on its way to us. You’ll stamp out our wrongdoing. You’ll sink our sins to the bottom of the ocean.” Micah 7:18-19 Message

The images are gifts from God: clean slate .. blind eye .. deaf ear .. past sins .. compassion on its way .. sins to the bottom of the ocean. He’s described what has gone on in your life through His Son. Jesus was called every offensive name possible. All the anger .. hate .. rage unleashed upon His body. And His answer: silence. One word would have freed Him. But He took every word to FREE you. Micah describes God as hating sin but who cannot abandon his love for you. He hates what it does to you and what you do because of it. So, rather than overpower it, He forever defeated the power of it! What a great image of God for today: “mercy is His specialty”. Who would ever expect mercy from a servant? Who would ever expect healing from Another’s wounds. Yet, this is the way that God has stamped out your wrongdoing. There’s freedom to live guilt free. There’s freedom to love without carrying the past. And there’s freedom to be loved in Christ and give it away freely. What will your specialty be today? All the old stuff is at the bottom of the ocean! It only takes a moment …

“They called him every name in the book and he said nothing back. He suffered in silence, content to let God set things right. He used his servant body to carry our sins to the Cross so we could be rid of sin, free to live the right way. His wounds became your healing.” 1 Peter 2:23-24 Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
