“We take our lead from Christ, who is the source of everything we do. He keeps us in step with each other. His very breath and blood flow through us, nourishing us so that we will grow up healthy in God, robust in love.” Ephesians 4:16 Message
What a picture we have of life: Christ is to be the “source of everything we do.” That image can be both paralyzing and unbelievable. We are used to having a say in our future. We are used to being told that we are in control. We are used setting our own course and asking God to bless it. If you really let Him be the “source” .. then surrender becomes freedom not defeat. If you really let Him be the “source” .. then everyday is an invitation to live fully alive in Christ. If you really let Him be the “source” .. then love has the “run of the house” and not a closet in your heart. Jesus intends for you to learn how to live a life of love. It’s grounded in truth and grows in grace. Any source other than Christ leads to suffocation. Christ offers you an inexhaustible supply. Your old life always had to prepare for the worst. Jesus loved you at your worst and gave you real life to breathe in stale world. It’s true today. There is no substitute for Christ as the source of everything in your life. Without Him, you’re left with yourself to try and figure it out. With Christ, the unbelievable becomes the undeniable: His love for you is an unbreakable grip. It only takes a moment …
