Infectious hope …

May 11, 2016

“A woman who had suffered a condition of hemorrhaging for twelve years — a long succession of physicians had treated her, and treated her badly, taking all her money and leaving her worse off than before — had heard about Jesus …. She was thinking to herself, “If I can put a finger on his robe, I can get well.” Mark 5:25-28 Message

When God decided to enter this fallen .. diseased .. unrestful .. sin-scarred world, He let down all the barriers that would keep anyone from Him.  Anyone could approach Him .. at anytime .. anywhere. She had no where else to turn. She reached across every barrier that made her feel unworthy, unwanted, and unloved. She turned to Jesus in hope.  And Jesus turned to her with healing: “you took a risk of faith, and now you’re healed and whole.” He hasn’t stopped pouring out HOPE since that day. She believed that Jesus was the only One who could heal her body. Paul reminded the Roman church that “hope” is what God has generously poured into life. The Holy Spirit comes with deep assurance and indwelling strength. You need it for the hardest challenges you are facing as well as those “things” you would never consider asking God for help. He’s there to help .. to lift up .. and to make you whole. Jesus knows the depth of suffering .. yours .. and everyone else. Where will you turn today for everything you are carrying? It only takes a moment …

“In alert expectancy  such as this, we’re never left feeling shortchanged. Quite the contrary — we can’t round up enough containers to hold everything God generously pours into our lives through the Holy Spirit.” Romans 5:5 Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
