Jesus stories: Caught in the nets(5)

“Follow Me, and I will make you become fishers of men.” Mark 1:17 NASB

The first part of Jesus invitation is about you. He’s calling you to follow Him. He knows you’re part of world  you grew up in .. influenced by the same social pressures as everyone else .. battling the same prejudices .. and carry scars and insecurities that will only become evident as you follow Him. The second part of His invitation is what your life will become though Him: fisher men and women. Your life is to be a witness of who Jesus is .. what He has done .. and what He is still doing today. His life was his method. It still is .. through you. He still invites .. still asks .. and still wants you to  follow Him and learn the secret of being “with Him”. The world you live in is fractured .. splintered by unforgiveness .. scarred by guilt and shame .. and increasingly blaming God for all the problems.  He doesn’t compete for your loyalty. He doesn’t waiver in His faithfulness. He doesn’t promise a life on this earth that was different than the one He lived. What He does is promise to never leave you or forsake you as you follow Him today … to catch fish .. who look like you. It only takes a moment …

“..so that they would be with Him…” Mark 3:14 NASB

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
