Tired .. no more

June 8, 2016

“Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me away from Your presence,  and take not Your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, and sustain me with a willing spirit.” Psalm 51:10-12 NASB

There was nothing else to do .. or say. He had run into a dead end. David .. a man after God’s heart ..  had stolen from the very heart of God. When his real life was hidden away .. God was merciful in breaking his heart by telling him about another man who stole what wasn’t his. It took a story to break his heart before he was ready for God to clean out his heart. What about you? Is there an area of your heart .. your life .. that God .. the Father .. has been trying to reach .. to clean out .. to make a fresh start? It doesn’t matter to God how long it’s been buried and hidden. With Him .. everything about your life is now! With Jesus .. everything about your life is now .. but has been already decided on a cross. That’s where your fresh start .. fresh wind .. and fresh holiness began. You can’t ask the Lord on the run. You have to stop .. let go of everything .. your schedule .. your gotta-get-it-dones .. and your just-let-me-finish-this task. A crowded .. clouded .. and cluttered heart can only be cleaned up by Jesus. You won’t be able to reach all the corners or find all the stuff. He will .. and He won’t judge you. He’ll go room by room through your life. He won’t force himself. He’ll wait until you hand Him the keys. God is in the “fresh start” business. It only takes a moment …

God, make a fresh start in me, shape a Genesis week from the chaos of my life. Don’t throw me out with the trash, or fail to breathe holiness in me. Bring me back from gray exile, put a fresh wind in my sails!” Psalm 51: 10-12 Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
