“So, Jesus explained himself at length. “I’m telling you this straight. The Son can’t independently do a thing, only what he sees the Father doing. What the Father does, the Son does. The Father loves the Son and includes him in everything he is doing.” john 5:19-20 Message
That was the way it was then: Jesus did what he saw his Father doing. He lived an unbroken fellowship. He didn’t try to carve out his own course or ask the Father to bless his plans. He showed us his Father’s will in everything he did. The circumstances didn’t matter: the people .. the demands .. the threats .. the unending needs. An old man named Ian once said that Jesus had all of the Father’s resources because the Father had all of His Son at his disposal. There was no tension .. no shifting around for recognition .. or trying to break out of his Father’s shadow. The very opposite was at work: the Son spent his life revealing his Father’s ways in a broken world. And now…? This Son still has all of his Father’s resources for living your life today. A cross and a risen life only show how far this Son went to claim all of you. You were never meant to try and live the Christian life on your own. In fact .. it is impossible. Jesus never leaves you in doubt about who is responsible: He is. His job is to put you on your feet alive and whole! Is He living his life fully and freely in you today? He has a job to do …. It only takes a moment …
“This is what my Father wants: that anyone who sees the Son and trusts who he is and what he does and then aligns with him will enter real life, eternal life. My part is to put them on their feet alive and whole at the completion of time.” John 6:40 Message
