Room by room …

July 1, 2016

“Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God.” Colossians 3:16 NASB

Just think about all the things that clutter up your insides. There are mental closets stuffed with old memories .. some good .. and some infected with fears and anxieties.  There are boxes stacked along your heart’s corridors filled with to-do’s .. regrets .. old scars .. fermented hopes .. and unpacked longings. Who has the time to go through all that stuff and make sense of it .. sort it out .. and find a useful road ahead? Jesus has the time. His one aim for you is to let Him move in .. renovate .. and redesign the old  you into the new you. There may be demolition. There will be removal for sure. He won’t have any problem sorting out what you need and what will make you whole and healthy. He’s not going to build bookshelves. He’s going write His Words throughout your life. He’ll write over the past. He’ll make the present relevant with everything you are facing .. except you’ll be facing it with His Words nourishing your insides. You’ll live inside-out instead of trying to make the outside world fit inside. You’ll find gratitude and thankfulness growing in all those rooms inside  your life. Jesus isn’t in a hurry. He’s promised to be thorough .. going room by room .. the “whole run of the house”. He can begin .. anytime .. even now. It only takes a moment …

“If you stick with this, living out what I tell you, you are my disciples for sure. Then you will experience for yourselves the truth, and the truth will free you.” John 8:31-32 Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
