The Name that bends knees…

July 12, 2016

“For this reason also, God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” Philippians 2:9-11

Amidst all the noise in this world .. all the words .. and all the attempts to make all gods equal .. there is only one exclusive claim about Jesus. There is no name has high as his. There is no confusion about what every man or woman in all creation will do one day: every knee will bow .. every tongue confess who He is. It doesn’t mean every man or woman will be redeemed .. saved .. or live forever in His presence. It means that all time will be set by one name alone. What Jesus has done for you is unfathomable: there is no depth of darkness .. sin .. or broken human failing that He has not stepped into and become. It’s inconceivable that someone with absolutely everything .. absolutely perfect would willingly lay it aside in order to find you and make you whole. He could have openly declared who He was .. in front of all rulers .. before the powerful of societies .. against all the armies. And yet, He saved these words: “every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord” .. for a church formed by a prayer group at a river. Whether you read them for the first time or hear them again .. these words describe your life and it’s direction. You may wonder what Jesus can do with your life. He doesn’t. He knows exactly what your life becomes when His life is what your life confesses. He’s working in all the details .. all the circumstances .. and even at this very moment. It’s just a matter of your heart .. your knees .. and the words that are formed by His name in you. It only takes a moment …

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
