Help guaranteed …

July 24, 2016

“It’s obvious, of course, that he didn’t go to all this trouble for angels. It was for people like us, children of Abraham. That’s why he had to enter into every detail of human life. Then, when he came before God as high priest to get rid of the people’s sins, he would have already experienced it all himself—all the pain, all the testing—and would be able to help where help was needed.” Hebrews 2:16-18 Message

Jesus knows about “every detail” of your life. The only way He could know was to become the very same life you lived. He’s faced everything you faced. He’s known the weariness of living in a broken .. flawed .. and failed world. The end of His life consumed all the parts of your life .. not just the sinful parts .. but also the rest of  you. He’s cleaned up your entire life .. though it may not feel like it presently. But He has .. on a cross. And now He’s here to help you live your life in Him. That’s where you’ll find your real life: in Christ. Jesus isn’t the One you call on after  you’ve exhausted your own resources. He’s not just the end-of-your-rope kind of god. The distractions and temptations are everywhere to keep you from fixing and focusing your eyes on Jesus. It is a race .. sometimes unrelenting .. obstacles everywhere .. blurred by circumstances .. uncertain at times .. but in Christ a guaranteed finish. He’ll be your help today. He knows exactly what you are asking and exactly where help is needed. So go ahead.  Where are your eyes focused for this day? It only takes a moment …

“Keep your eyes on Jesus, who both began and finished this race we’re in. Study how he did it. Because he never lost sight of where he was headed—that exhilarating finish in and with God—he could put up with anything along the way: Cross, shame, whatever. And now he’s there, in the place of honor, right alongside God. When you find yourselves flagging in your faith, go over that story again, item by item, that long litany of hostility he plowed through. That will shoot adrenaline into your souls!” Hebrews 12:2-3 Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
