God’s favorite song…

July 25, 2016

“Since we’ve compiled this long and sorry record as sinners (both us and them) and proved that we are utterly incapable of living the glorious lives God wills for us, God did it for us. Out of sheer generosity he put us in right standing with himself. A pure gift. He got us out of the mess we’re in and restored us to where he always wanted us to be. And he did it by means of Jesus Christ.” Romans 3:23-24 Message

Sin reaches every corner of life. Your body is infected with it. Your relationships bear scars from it. Your everyday world shows the effects of it. God has made it clear that none of us are capable of living one day of our lives free from sin’s suffocating .. scarring .. self-focusing power. We get so used to it that we don’t even see it or we try to manage the hurt or disappointment. Our best efforts only compound sin’s influence and contaminating properties. We would even like to think that good motives and well directed intentions somehow lessen it’s sting. God simply says we all “fall short”. Instead of waiting, the Lord put His plan into motion long before you were ever interested. He watched for the longest time .. helping out  .. lifting up .. calling back .. restoring .. and all the while knowing that Jesus was the only-difference-maker. You are stepping into a day whereby God sees the flawless .. blameless .. sinless work of His Son in your life. You don’t have to look over your shoulder. You don’t have to worry that “that one sin” will disqualify you: your temper .. that habit .. your thought life .. prejudices .. asking God but worrying that it is really up to you .. and on and on. It all looks different in everyone but the Lord said we are all in the same boat. Sin plays no favorites. Grace though is all about favor .. all of God’s favor .. completely .. nothing held back .. for you .. in Jesus. That’s the day you are stepping into. It carries a nice sound.  It only takes a moment …

“Going through the motions doesn’t please you, a flawless performance is nothing to you. I learned God-worship when my pride was shattered. Heart-shattered lives ready for love don’t for a moment escape God’s notice.”Psalm 51:16-17 Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
